Programme Overview
The HEAL Programme promotes health and wellbeing as essential components of human security. Through the Healthy Community Project, FHSI supports health education, disease prevention, community health outreach, mental wellbeing, referrals and inclusive access to health services, particularly for vulnerable populations.
Core Focus Areas
- Health Education: Raising awareness on disease prevention and healthy living practices
- Community Health Outreach: Bringing health services closer to underserved communities
- Mental Wellbeing: Addressing mental health needs and psychosocial support
- Inclusive Health Access: Ensuring equitable access to health services for vulnerable populations
Why This Matters
The programme recognises that health is fundamental to human security, enabling people to survive, sustain livelihoods and participate with dignity. Vulnerable populations often face barriers to health services, resulting in preventable suffering and mortality.
Our Approach
The HEAL Programme addresses health security holistically by:

- Strengthening community health worker networks
- Providing health referrals and linkages to health facilities
- Integrating gender equality, youth participation and disability inclusion
Expected Impact
Through HEAL, FHSI seeks to move communities from vulnerability to health and resilience, contributing to a Uganda where people can:
- Access quality health information and services
- Prevent disease and improve health outcomes
- Receive mental health and psychosocial support
- Live healthy, dignified lives with access to inclusive health services
